Huge Scare

Sunday night was pretty rough for my husband, Canon, and I.  During bath time Canon quit breathing and his little face turned blue.  He quickly began breathing again as soon as we wrapped him in a towl.  We went to the Er in our home town and were sent by ambulance to another hospital.  A sleep study was done on him and we found out that he suffers from pretty severe apnea.  We are still in the hospital waiting on an apnea monitor from a medical supply store so that we can be sent home.  Also the dr started him back on caffeine which he will be on for a few weeks until the apnea has stopped.  We were told he should outgrow it within a few months.  Praise God that he is doing better.  In a few minutes he will be having an upper GI done due to severe reflux, so please pray that it is clear and show's no problems. We would appreciate the continued prayers, as will be heading home soon.

WE ARE HOME...

We were able to come home on Saturday and it was wonderful.  Canon is the GREATEST.  Trent and I are falling more and more in love with him every day.  We are a little overwhelmed because Canon looks just like Easton did.  It takes my breath sometimes when I look at him. It's like I'm having deja vu.  My mom and mother in law have said the same thing.  They see the strong resemblance also.  Especially at night when I am holding Canon and the only light glowing in our bedroom is a night light, this is when I feel like I am looking at my twins.  I always wondered what they would have looked like full term or as they were growing and I feel like God has given me the chance to see what Easton and Parker would have looked like.  Thanks for all of the prayers. We are so blessed and completely wrapped around this tiny boys fingers. He is my world.

Day 18

We've been in the hospital 18 days now and are waiting on results from Canon's caffeine levels as I type this.  If they are below 5 we will be going home today.  I'll try to get around to telling you his birth story and the day leading up to it when I do finally get home. Trent and I have been in a courtesy room at the hospital since we had Canon so we have never been more ready to get home.  Please keep us in your prayers as we begin this new journey.

Good News...

It has been a rough stay for Canon in the NICU.  Right now he is doing much better and after not being able to be fed for the past four days due to stomach issues, he was finally able to start eating again today.  They are letting me feed him twice a day and hold him again.  He has been on caffeine to keep him from having apnea spells and they stopped it today.  We have to stay at least five more days to get a reading to make sure it is out of his system and that he has no more trouble with his breathing.  The antibiotics will be finished on Monday and he will be moved to an open isolette and will finally be able to wear sweet little clothes.  Hopefully the IV in his foot will last until his last dose of meds on Monday because his veins are terrible.  Two different nurses and the NICU Dr. tried putting in a PICC line to keep him from being stuck over and over but they couldn't get it in due to his veins being so bad.  His little hands, feet, arms, and head are bruised terribly from being stuck so many times a day.  I know it could be much worse and I am so grateful it isn't but for a first time mommy it is devastating.  Yes, I know I am not actually a first time mom but, this is my first child to be born breathing so everything is much different this time.  Please keep Canon in your prayers.  We are ready to get home and move forward.
While in the hospital for the last two weeks, Easton and Parker's head stone finally came in.  It is beautiful from what I can tell in the pictures but we haven't been able to get home to see it yet.  We miss our boy's now, more than ever...

Prayers Please!

Please keep Canon in your prayers.  He has had a few complications and will be in the NICU at least another 10 days.  He quit breathing several times last night for 15-20 seconds at a time.  He was on a CPAP machine for the rest of the night and part of today.  He is now off the CPAP and on regular oxygen and doing well.  Please pray that there are no more episodes like this and that he will continue to breathe on his own.  Also there is some type of trouble with his tummy. X-rays show a small loop in the bowl but Dr. thinks it is just infection and that antibiotics will cure it.  He will not be able to be fed for 5-7 more days due to the tummy issue and he is very agitated and hungry. Please pray for peace and comfort for him.  Our hearts are aching and we have been more scared than ever but know that our God is a miracle worker and will heal our baby boy's tummy.  I will try to update again soon.
